Legends of the Middle Ages
The Morrígan, also known as “The Phantom Queen” or “Great Queen” is the goddess of battle, strife, and sovereignty. She sometimes appears in the form of a crow, flying above the warriors, she also takes the form of an eel, a wolf and a cow.
She is a trio of goddesses, all sisters – Badb and Macha.
Priests of Morrigan band into battle groups or attach themselves to groups of warriors at all times. It is rare that Morrigan will allow one of her clerics to travel independently, unless they are in search of greater, more intense combat situations. Morrigan’s priests have no power to heal, since it is her will that those who fall in battle should die. To ensure death, worshipers and clerics of Morrigan must behead their conquered enemies. Some say they can speak to the dead, and know the outcome of battle.
Warriors of Morrigan are fearsome and strong. They are often seen wearing a head of their latest victim as offering, sometimes using the bones of their conquered for armor.
